   How to use this CDROM

        This CDROM contains more than 400 reports and studies as well as other titles organized according to major themes including but not limited to international conventions, arrangements, codes; channels, mechanisms and best practices for transfer; acquisition and absortion of new technologies including information and communication technologies, biotechnology; technology partnerships; intellectual property rights and protection of traditional knowledge, and collected works of the United Nations Commission on Science and Technology. The works have been also classified by year and their position within the evolution of the major development and technology paradigms.

        Autorun mode  By clicking on the hyperlink "enter" in the page named "Index" you will have access to the documents database arranged in three different forms and to an overview of the 25 years of UNCTADs work on issues of technology for development. Each highlighted document is linked to the corresponding PDF file. Clicking on the link will launch the document in Acrobat Reader. If you don't have Acrobat Reader installed read the section about PDF files below. If you want to browse the contents of the CD in Windows Explorer, go to "My Computer", right click on your CD drive, and choose "Explore".

        How to browse this CDROM To browse the contents of this CDROM in Windows Explorer, go to "My Computer", right-click on your CD drive, and choose "Explore".

        PDF files    All documents on this CD are in PDF format, and can be viewed with Adobe Acrobat Reader. Most computers already have it installed. If you don't, it is included on the CD and you can install it by clicking on the link Acrobat Reader.

        Install Acrobat using Netscape If you are using Netscape it will act as if you are "downloading" the file, and you are in fact "downloading" it from the CD. Place it on your desktop and run the installation.

        Install Acrobat using Internet Explorer If you are using Internet Explorer you will get an option to either "Save this program to disk", or "Run this program from its current location". Choose "Run this program from its current location", and the installation will start immediately.

        Trouble? Nothing happens. If nothing happens when you insert the CD, the autorun function may be turned off on your computer. To view the pages, just open the file on the CD called "index.html" in your browser.
