The Expert Working Group provides technical and policy analysis to inform the discourse to promote responsible sovereign borrowing and lending. The objective of this forum is to engage in a fruitful exchange of views and information among the members of the expert group and to inform the process to establish guidelines for responsible practices.
The expertise of the members and contributors of the Group draw from legal, economic and civil society backgrounds. Representatives of international multilateral financial institutions are participating as observers to the group, including the IMF, the World Bank, and the Paris Club.
The first Expert Group meeting was held in Geneva in November 2009 and was followed by a second meeting in Tunis in March 2010.
