Meeting for African LDCs, Lusaka, 10-12 May 2010

This Preparatory meeting is intended to provide African countries and African LDCs with an opportunity to identify their priorities and contributions to the Conference.

 

 

High-level meeting on trade capacity building and competition policy for African LDCs and Preparatory meeting for the Sixth United Nations Review Conference
Lusaka, Zambia
10-12 May 2010

This high-level meeting will address three main topics:

  1. Strategies to promote sustainable growth in African LDCs and explore the features and benefits of India´s duty-free, quota-free trade scheme and related aid-for-trade support.

  2. Contribution of competition policy to the development of African LDCs and launch of UNCTAD´s new African competition programme, AFRICOMP.

  3. Preparatory session for the upcoming 6th UN Conference of the United Nations Set of Multilaterally Agreed Equitable Principles and Rules for the Control of Restrictive Business Practices, to be held from 8 to 12 November 2010 in Geneva.

Participants will include trade ministers and heads of competition authorities from African LDCs.
